Rampant Gaming

Where Immortal Day Publishing Began

"Simple Games for Simple Fun" was Rampant Gaming's motto. In 1989, we released "Arena Warriors," "Jewel Fighters" and "Kingdoms"--all by game designer Alexander Gekko. A combat die-roller, pencil-and-paper strategy and chess-and-magic game respectively, all three old-school style classics sold well and we added Alexander's "WorldBuilders Competition," an interactive world-building workbook, in 1994. But it wasn't until Alexander teamed with CCG-designer Gille M. Hawkins to create "Blast! Create Your Own Collectable Card Games" that a Rampant publication reached true bestseller status.

Our "trick," back in the day, was to sell games outside the game industry because the industry was dominated by two other huge companies (you know who we mean). We sold directly to independent and chain bookstores and gamers themselves. We sold directly into schools (which was a coup) as the games promoted math skills and strategic planning.

"'Blast! Create Your Own Collectable Card Games' made, and continues to make, Rampant, Alexander and Gille an obscene amount of money," admits Jennifer DiMarco with a laugh. Jennifer is the CEO of Windstorm Creative and its divisions. "The revenue earned from 'Blast!' is why Rampant expanded." And as we grew, adding more designers, Rampant morphed into Immortal Day Publishing.

This is an unique opportunity for game designers to get in on the ground floor of a  seventeen-year-old company.
