What is a preorder?

Most of the books on our webcenter are marked "Available" but some are preorders. When a book is listed as a preorder, this means that the author is under contract with us for the title and that the book is in a stage of production. Authors want to see their books at the webcenter as soon as they're under contract and preorders help us determine the demand for a book.

Preorder books often have a specific forthcoming ship date (Example: "Ships 3/08"). This means the book will ship at the end of the month listed. If the book is marked "Ships FC," then the book is still being completed by the author (or the cover or interior artist) and so a specific ship date is not yet set. No book marked "Ships FC" will ship later than December 2007.

Why do customers preorder?

When you preorder a book, you are guaranteed a first edition. You are also guaranteed to receive your copy before or at the same time that bookstores will have the book.

Another advantage to placing a preorder is that if the book's retail price goes up (which can happen during production because of changing costs), you will never pay more. This is our guarantee.

Is there any risk?

No. There is no risk placing a preorder. If your book does not ship on time and you want to cancel your order, just call us at 360-769-7174. It's that easy. We'll issue you a full refund through PayPal (the gateway you used to pay).
